I hate fundraisers. Really. I do not need any more gadgets or cookie dough in my house. Gosh, I am helping my child's school, what else do you want me to do?
It turns out the money you and I are spending on normal everyday things can be redirected in ways that raise money and don't require us to spend money on stuff you don't need!
SCRIPS is a great example. When you purchase SCRIPS, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. SCRIPS is similar to a gift certificate or gift card, and is issued by national and local retailers where many of our families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations like our school, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with SCRIPS at their stores. You can use SCRIPS to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for our school.
We have a weekly program for groceries and currently we can get cards from The Merc, Hy-vee, Dillons, and Checkers. Hy-Vee and Dillons can also be used to purchase gas at their 6th St. locations.

It is amazing to think, but some of the more established Waldorf schools earn well-over $10,000 a year through SCRIPS. Within our own school, this year we have already raised over $2,000!! Think of how much that can grow if more people were to regularly purchase SCRIPS! This can really add up. It is a very simple way to help create income for the school with very little extra work and at no additional cost to whoever takes advantage of it. If you can find friends and family who are willing to support our school in this way, please invite them to become a regular SCRIPS purchaser. For those of us who travel a lot, using SCRIP cards to buy gas is a great way to get money for the school!

Simply stop in at Checker's customer service desk and grab a free card that you can register online. When you are out shopping or eating at various Lawrence locations and use the card a percentage will come back to the school!! In addition you will receive points for $'s back. How easy and rewarding is that?!
